We believe that solving the problem of community planning meetings requires engaging and convenient ways for the community to interact and understand project information. The traditional long formal meetings at set times restrict the types and availability of residents who can attend and have their voices heard. According to research by Boston University, the vast majority of attendees of community meetings tend to be older, richer, and less racially diverse than the community as a whole and are more likely to oppose projects.
Urbanite XR is building a community engagement platform that integrates Extended Reality (XR) consisting of Virutal Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies helping Planning Agencies and Real Estate Developers create better communities. The technology innovation for Urbanite will augment and improve the traditional real estate community engagement which consists exclusively of infrequent in-person meetings at pre-set times. The Urbanite platform will seek to increase meaningful interaction between the stakeholders during the planning process, lessen the over-representation of NIMBY voices at community meetings, and provide a platform that integrates with BIM data for immersive design review.
